Series History
- AU is 17-10-15 all-time against Bucknell, but have not defeated the Bison since 2022 at home.
- The Eagles played Bucknell to a scoreless draw in Lewisburg last year, and fell to the Bison in the Patriot League Tournament in 2024 in penalty kicks
What to Know About American: 1-5-3 (1-0-1)
- The Eagles are coming off a 1-0 loss to William & Mary on Tuesday at home, falling to the non-conference opponent after a highlight-reel goal put the Tribe in front in the first half.
- AU created multiple scoring chances on the comeback trail, but came up short. Chris Sullivan forced a near post save just minutes after the Eagles conceded the goal, and Moad Ezzahir's header was inches away from getting past a diving Diego Garciarena in the second half.
- Last time out in Patriot League play, AU drew Loyola Maryland 1-1 behind Patryk Rojek's first career goal. Freshman Henrick Boahen picked up his first collegiate assist on the goal as well, toe-poking an excellent ball from midfield into the attacking third to set up his teammate in a dangerous position.
- The Eagles were supposed to have their third PL match of the season at Army on Saturday, Sept. 26, but the game was postponed due to inclement weather. It has since been rescheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 21 with a kickoff time to be determined.
- Sullivan has been the team's most dangerous scoring threat, leading the team in shots with 13 and nine on goal. He earned the Patriot League Midfielder of the Week honor after his game-winner against the Raiders.
- Sophomore Evan Tubbs has been strong for AU in goal, making at least five saves in three matches this season and totaling 32 on the year. His 1.33 GAA sits fourth in the PL, and he has three clean sheets to his name.
- Head coach Zach Samol has used the youth on his roster, with three freshmen earning consistent playing time. Boahen has played in all eight games, taking five shots and putting three on goal. Yuta Phoenix has appeared in seven matches in the midfield, and Rohan Chivukula has played in eight on the back line with three starts.
What to Know About Bucknell: 3-5-1 (1-1-1)
- Bucknell will be looking to bounce back on Saturday, following a 5-0 loss at BU on Monday.
- The Bison picked up their first PL win over Lafayette on Sept. 12. The victory came late, with Jack Lucas netting a penalty kick in the 88th minute to take down the defending conference champions.
- Viktor Permayashkin, Hamish Riddell, and Drew Roskos all have three points on one goal and one assist each to lead Bucknell so far.
- Roskos was voted the Preseason Forward of the Year, while Lucas was named Preseason Defender of the Year. The graduate senior Roskos led the PL in goals a year ago, netting seven.
- Thomas Yerbury has handled goalkeeping duties for the Bison, holding a 1.89 GAA through nine starts.
