MASK POLICY AT AU ATHLETICS EVENTS
  • Individuals are required to wear masks to all American University athletics events, per current AU guidelines.
  • We also encourage social distancing at all of our venues.

SERIES HISTORY

  • Maryland has dominated the 47-year history with American.
  • The Eagles' only win in their 44 meetings with the Terrapins was in College Park during the 2004 season, 3-1.
  • Maryland narrowly clinched the victory in the last meeting between the two teams, outlasting AU 1-0 at Jacobs Complex on October 29, 2019.

LAST TIME OUT

  • American is coming off its fourth consecutive win after shutting out LIU, 3-0, during a neutral site match on Friday.
  • Three Eagles contributed to the score sheet starting with the second goal of the season for junior Merel Dupont and the first for senior Josie Formica. Senior Noor Coenen added one more to her tally as she continues to lead the squad's overall scoring efforts with five as the team makes the turn into the latter half of the regular season.
  • Senior Gaby de Kock added a pair of assists on the day for Formica and Coenen. Sophomore Emily Horace added another assist for Coenen's goal, scored off the team's seventh penalty corner.
  • The win over LIU was the second consecutive shutout for the team after the Eagles held Lafayette scoreless during the Patriot League opener on September 18. American outlasted the Leopards, 1-0, in its second consecutive overtime game and fourth of the season.
  • Of the four overtime games, two were decided with goals from Coenen - Lafayatte, and No. 21 UMass on September 12. Junior Charllene Boshoff put away the overtime game winner in the opening win against No. 23 VCU.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Bryn Underwood also highlighted the win over Lafayette, topping her previous personal best with a staggering 10 saves including a diving effort after Lafayette earned a penalty stroke early in the third quarter. Of her remaining nine saves on the day, three came in quick succession in the final minute of regulation to force the game into extra time.

SCOUTING THE TERRAPINS

  • Maryland is coming off back-to-back wins, including a 4-3 OT victory against #17 Princeton (9/21), and a decisive 8-2 win at Indiana (9/24). Both of the Terrapins' losses have come to top-10 ranked teams, first with #7 Boston College (3-2) then #8 Penn State (3-2 OT). Maryland has also notched three ranked victories against #20 Saint Joseph's (4-3, 2OT), #12 Duke (4-0), #21 UMass (1-0), and #17 Princeton.
  • Hope Rose led the Terps against Indiana with a pair of goals while Julianna Tornetta, Bibi Donraadt, Margot Lawn, Kyler Greenwalt, Taylor Mason, and Anna Castaldo added one each. Tornetta, Emma DeBerdine, Rose, Mayv Clune, and Castaldo also added the team's five assists on the day.
  • Donraadt leads the team's overall scoring efforts with five goals and four assists for 14 points, followed by Tornetta (4g, 3a), and Lawn (3g, 4a). Donraadt also has a pair of game winners and one of the three defensive saves for the team.
  • Noelle Frost has started all eight games in goal for Maryland and has 25 saves on the season for a .658 save percentage and 1.67 goals against average.

STILL CLIMBIN'

  • Coenen added her name to the list of all-time greats in program history long ago. Now in her 5th season with the Eagles, she is continuing her climb through the AUFH record books.

  • Davies, along with Boshoff, have been responsible for both of AU's defensive saves to rank second in the PL.
