BETHLEHEM, Pa. – David Coly was named the Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year when the league office announced preseason awards on Tuesday. He was joined on the Preseason All-Patriot League Team by fellow senior, Nicolas Blassou.
Coly finished led the Patriot League in points (14) and goals (7) last season and ended the season on a six-game goal streak, tied for the longest streak in program history since 1997. He was named Second Team All-Patriot League and Second Team All-Region a season ago.
Blassou was also Second Team All-Patriot League last season, anchoring the defense and contributing two goals on the offensive end.
The Loyola Maryland men's soccer team claimed the top spot in the 2021 Patriot League preseason poll with 149 points and 10 first-place votes. American was just behind with 137 points and seven first-place votes.
The preseason poll and individual awards were voted on by the men's soccer coaches and sports information directors from each institution, with restrictions on voting for their team and student-athletes.
