LEWISBURG, Pa. - The performances were impressive from start to finish on day one for American University men's and women's swimming and diving at the Patriot League Challenge hosted by Bucknell and also including Loyola Maryland. Highlighting the results was another school-record performance by freshman
Mimi Watts in the 200 butterfly, as well as seven other top-five individual finishes.
NOTABLE WOMEN'S RESULTS
- In the night session, Watts earned a win in the 200 fly in 2:00.48, just shy of her new school record time of 1:59.71 from the prelims earlier in the day. Her prelims time was more than a second and a half faster than her previous school record of 2:01.30 from April 3.
- The next best finish of the day came from senior Abby Longstaff in the 100 backstroke, as she placed second in 57.82.
- Sophomore Kayla Winters' time of 2:23.03 from the prelims of the 200 breaststroke ranks as the sixth-fastest personal best of all-time.
- Senior Ellie Kight placed fourth in the 500 free, and senior Natalie Hamlet took fifth in the 200 IM
- Freshmen Amanda Bosses and Grace Hogue placed fourth and fifth in 3-meter diving.
- To cap the day, the 400 medley relay team of Longstaff, Winters, Watts and Kight took third in 3:51.92, the eighth-fastest in program history.
- The women's team currently stands in third place, with Bucknell in the lead.
NOTABLE MEN'S RESULTS
- In his final meet as an Eagle, senior Liam Riebling started very strong with a third-place finish in the 200 fly. His time of 1:49.29 was his best ever, and ranks as the fourth-fastest personal best in program history to top his own mark of 1:50.40 from February of 2020.
- Freshman Caleb Farris had a fantastic day in the sprint freestyle events for the Eagles. His time of 45.82 in the prelims of the 100 free ranks as the sixth-fastest personal-best in program history, and he was even more impressive in a relay.
- The team of Farris, Riebling, freshman Nick Buckley and sophomore Jonathan Quick posted a third-place time of 1:23.41 in the 200 free relay which ranks as the fourth-fastest in the history of the program and the fastest since 2003. As the leadoff leg, Farris swam the fourth-fastest personal best in program history in the 50 free at 20.71.
- In the B final of the 200 breaststroke, freshman Will Timme took first in a PR time of 2:06.19 that ranks as the 14th-fastest personal best all-time at AU.
- Quick earned an individual fourth-place finish in the 500 freestyle.
- The day finished with the team of Aldrich Elvambuena, Timme, Riebling and Farris taking third in the 400 medley relay in 3:27.74.
- After one day, the men's team stands in third place. Loyola Maryland has a commanding lead on both the Eagles and the host Bison.

- Competition resumes on Sunday with prelims at 10 a.m., diving prelims at 1 p.m., and finals in all events starting at 6 p.m.
