PLEASE FOLLOW US ONLINE ONLY; NO FANS OR SPECTATORS PERMITTED ON CAMPUS

  • Per Washington, D.C. and American University guidelines, and for the health and safety of our coaches, student-athletes and campus community, no spectators are permitted at athletics events in 2020-21.
  • This policy is a stipulation of our approval to host athletic events from D.C. Department of Health and D.C. Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
  • We do not anticipate a change in these guidelines this semester. Violators will be escorted from the site and jeopardize our ability to host athletic events for our student-athletes.
  • All American University athletic events played on campus this spring will be streamed on ESPN+ (FAQ HERE) and can also be watched through the Patriot League's International Video Stream.
  • Schedules and game updates can be found at www.AUeagles.com and our Twitter account @AUeagles.
  • All scheduled events and start times are subject to change.
SERIES HISTORY
  • The two programs have met only six times since 2006 and are tied in the series, 3-3. The Colonials took the series debut (March 15, 2006), 9-8, with the Eagles claiming their first win on Feb. 25, 2009, with a 12-6 decision at home.
  • American bested GW on their home field, 20-16, in the midst of last season's 7-0 nonconference run.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
  • American fell to 0-2 on the season after Saturday's road loss to #14 Loyola Maryland to open the Patriot League slate
  • Senior Casey Harkins led the Eagles with her first hat trick of the season, fifth of her career, in the first half while sophomore Emma Hare added her first goal of the season during the second.
  • Harkins was 3-for-4 in shooting on the day with the Greyhounds keeper only coming away with her fourth and final attempt midway through the second half.
  • Senior goalkeeper Delaney Oliveira fell one save shy of her career-high, closing the game with five.
  • The Eagles opened their 2021 campaign on Feb. 27 at Mount St. Mary's. Senior Emma Vinall dominated scoring for AU, putting away six goals and hitting a perfect 3-for-3 in free position opportunities while also leading the team with eight draw controls.
  • Vinall was held scoreless by the Greyhounds but still found ways to contribute, pitching in the Eagles' only assist and adding three draw controls.
  • American returns an experienced group from last year's squad that went 7-0 during the nonconference slate - the first undefeated season in program history. Highlighting the returners for first-year head coach Lindsay Teeters are senior captains Emma Vinall, Kendall Goldblum, and Cate Golden, along with fifth-year veterans Casey Harkins and Erica Skowron. Senior Delaney Oliveira will also look to take over as the starting goalkeeper after the graduation of Emma Curtis.

SCOUTING THE COLONIALS

  • George Washington split its first two outings of the 2021 season, falling to Navy (Feb. 27), 22-2, before picking up a 10-goal win over Old Dominion (March 6), 16-6.
  • Ionna Mantzouratos and Sophia Watkinson picked up the Colonials' only two goals against the Mids. Mantzouratos added one more against ODU but it was Amber Germer who stepped up for GW, putting away four goals followed by Maddie O'Brien, Caitie Perkins, and Sarah Adams with two each.
  • Perkins also led the team with eight draw controls while Germer added four ground balls.
  • Junior goalkeeper Megan Patrick opened the season with nine saves against the Mids but picked up a career-high 19 against the Monarchs.
  • Head Coach Jennifer Ulehla is in her second season at the helm of the Colonials. The team went 0-7 in 2020 before the season's abrupt end.
RECORD BOOK WATCH
  • The Eagles will look to continue rewriting the record books this season after three of the program's bests in 2020. Emma Vinall and Casey Harkins each came away with single-game program records during the win over Presbyterian to end last year's campaign. Vinall topped Eleni Vagelatos' eight-goal record from 1996, scoring nine to lead the Eagles, while Harkins beat out teammate Erica Skowron's records for points (12) and assists (11).
  • Those 11 assists also tied the Division I single-game record, and put Harkins over the top for the single-season assists record (34) and career record (62).
  • Vinall also holds a single-season program record with her 65 points in 2019, and a freshman season record for draw contorls with 40 from 2018.
  • The All-American attacker will now look to continue moving up the career record lists for goals and points. She currently ranks fifth in program history with 154 points and second with 134 goals.

BACK FOR SECONDS

  • Casey Harkins and Erica Skowron opted to return for a fifth year after their senior season was cut short with the COVID pandemic.
  • Harkins had a stellar senior season in 2020, culminating in program records and a tied Division I record for single-game assists with 11 during the season finale victory over Presbyterian.
  • Those 11 assists also broke the program record and put her over the top for AU's single-season (34) and career (61) records after only seven nonconference games.
  • Harkins also closed the 2020 slate with a program record in single-game points after adding a goal against the Blue Hose for a dozen on the day.
  • Skowron has started each of her 43 games throughout her career, including two in 2019 before she was sidelined by injury.
  • She entered last season as the program record holder for single-game assists (6) and points (11) before Harkins eclipsed those records in the season finale.

RANKED RETURNS

  • Seniors Emma Vinall, Casey Harkins, and Kendall Goldblum all closed the 2020 season ranked within the top-tier of Division I.
  • Vinall led the country in goals (42) and ranked third in points (47), eighth in draw controls per game (7.86).
  • Harkins led the nation in both assists (34) and points (52).
  • Goldblum sat in fifth for shots on goal per game (6.71), eighth for goals per game (4.14), and 12th for draw controls per game (7.0).
  • As a team, the Eagles closed last season ranked second in Division I for draw controls per game (20.0), third for scoring offense (19.43), fourth for points per game (27.57), and seventh for assists per game (8.14).
