Mimi Watts and Liam Riebling Shine for Swim & Dive at Loyola Maryland

BALTIMORE - For the second time this season, American University men's and women's swimming and diving went to Loyola Maryland for a Patriot League dual meet against the Greyhounds. The Eagles pulled out three individual wins, including two by freshman Mimi Watts.

WOMEN'S RECAP
  • Watts continued her impressive debut campaign with wins in both the 100 butterfly (57.20) and the 200 backstroke (2:09.98). She placed second in the 200 fly with a time of 2:04.81.
  • Watts teamed up with Abby Longstaff, Kayla Winters and Ellie Kight for a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay in a season-best time of 1:49.87.
  • Individually, Winters had the second-fastest time of 4:43.37 in the 400 individual medley, and placed third in the 200 breaststroke in 2:27.79.
  • Kight took second place in the 500 freestyle in 5:17.52, while freshman teammate Mallory Meister was behind her in third place.
  • The 200 free relay team of Longstaff, Eleanor Felton, Meister and Malak Hassouna swam the second-fastest time of 1:43.06.
  • Longstaff earned an individual third-place finish in the 100 back in 1:00.33, and Winters took third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.14.
  • Kight took third and Hamlet was fourth in the 200 free with times of 1:59.23 and 1:59.96, respectively.
  • Freshman Amanda Bosses competed in 3-meter diving, taking third place for the Eagles.
  • As a team, AU came up short against the Greyhounds by a score of 179.5-113.5.
MEN'S RECAP
  • Senior Liam Riebling stole the show on the men's side, taking an individual win in the 200 butterfly in 1:55.40, and placing second in the 100 fly in a time of 51.55.
  • Freshman Aldrich Elvambeuna earned a third-place finish in the 100 backstroke in 55.73.
  • Also taking third was junior diver Christian Hernandez in the 1-meter.
  • As a team, the men lost to the Greyhounds by a score of 203-80.
UP NEXT
  • The Eagles will compete virtually against most teams in the Patriot League over two days next weekend, April 2-3. AU will honor its seniors prior to the meet for Senior Day.
