WASHINGTON - The No. 17 American University field hockey team will open its 2021 postseason at home this week as the No. 1 seed in the Patriot League Tournament after clinching the league's regular season title with an undefeated record in conference play. The Eagles will host four-seed Lehigh at 11 a.m. on Thursday in the first semifinal game. Two-seed Lafayette and three-seed Bucknell will follow at 2 p.m.
The winners of the two games will meet in the Patriot League Championship game at noon on Saturday, November 6, at Jacobs Complex.

- Tickets are priced at $8 for adults, and $5 for youth and seniors.

- Parking is only permitted in the School of International Service (SIS) or The Katzen Art Center Garage during work hours (8 a.m. - 5 p.m. on weekdays). Guests using these locations must utilize the hourly rate pay boxes inside each respective garage.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAIN HAWKS
- Lehigh comes into the postseason with an 11-6 overall record, including 4-2 in the Patriot League- the program's best season since 1994 to earn a berth in its first Patriot League Tournament since 2011.
- The Mountain Hawks earned five honors in the Patriot League postseason release, including a Defensive Player of the Year nod for fifth-year Lenke Havas. Havas, along with senior Drew Pecora were both selected to the First Team while junior Sarah Bonthuis and senior Leah Mullery earned Second Team honors.
- Havas and Bonthuis are tied for first on the team with 27 points (11 goals, 5 assists) and sit alongside each other at second in the Patriot League for goals and fourth for points. Bonthuis leads the conference with four game-winning goals while Havas ranks second for shots (4.00/game).
- Maddie Kahn has led the Mountain Hawks from the cage all season. She has 70 saves in her 17 games and a 1.81 goals against average for a .693 save percentage. She has three shutouts on the year against Sacred Heart, Holy Cross, and Rider.
- Lehigh closed its regular season with a 4-3 loss to Wagner in overtime. The Mountain Hawks won the game prior, ending the Patriot League season with a 3-2 victory over Lafayette, also in extra time.
THE QUICK HITS
- AU clinched its 12th Patriot League regular season title after finishing the undefeated in league play for the 10th time since joining the league in 2001.
- The Eagles broke into the NFHCA National Coaches Poll at No. 25 on September 28 and has since moved steadily through the rankings, peaking at No. 17 on October 26 - the program's highest ranking since the 2011 season. AU held steady at No. 17 this week after closing the regular season with a 3-0 win at Colgate.
- American dominated the Patriot League postseason awards once again with a league-high six honors, including Goalkeeper of the Year Bryn Underwood and Coach of the Year Steve Jennings. This is the 10th Coach of the Year selection for Jennings, and the second consecutive major award for Underwood after she was voted Rookie of the Year last season.
- Two-time Offensive Player of the Year Noor Coenen was named to her fifth consecutive All-Patriot League First Team alongside Underwood and returning Defensive Player of the Year Georgia Davies.
- Fifth-year Gaby de Kock was named to her second consecutive All-Patriot League Second Team while senior Aidan Rossman earned her first All-League distinction after earning Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year last season.
THEIR LAST MEETING
- American earned its third shutout of the season, and second in the Patriot League, with a 2-0 win at Lehigh on October 9.
- Senior Hannah Moser and junior Merel Dupont scored the two goals for AU while fifth-years Gaby de Kock and Noor Coenen were credited with the assists.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Bryn Underwood picked up three saves on the day.
- American dominated in shots, 14-3, and had three penalty corners to Lehigh's one.
MAJOR AWARDS
- Sophomore Bryn Underwood was selected for her second consecutive PL major award as the league's Goalkeeper of the Year.
- This also marks her first All-Patriot League First Team nod after she didn't make an All-League team last season despite being named Rookie of the Year.
- She is the program's third Goalkeeper of the Year after Kate McBeath earned the distinction in 2015 and Maura Jacobs in 2018.
- For the 10th time since 2001, Steve Jennings has been voted as the league's Coach of the Year. This is the most out of any head coach in the league's history followed by Ann Gold (Lafayette) and Sally Starr (Boston U.) with five each.
- Fifth-year Noor Coenen was selected to her fifth consecutive All-Patriot League First Team. The two-time Offensive Player of the Year along with Lehigh's Lenke Havas are the first players in PL history to have earned five All-PL First Team honors.
- Returning Defensive Player of the Year Georgia Davies earned her second consecutive All-PL First Team honor.
- Fifth-year Gaby de Kock and senior Aidan Rossman rounded out the postseason honors with selections to the Second Team.
REWRITING THE RECORD BOOKS
- As Coenen approaches the end of her storied career at American University, she continues to climb the ranks in not only program history, but also league history.
- She currently sits as the second-highest scorer in AU history with 54 goals in her career, and ranks fourth with 135 points. She also added her name to the all-time lists record board and is tied with Jonnie Lees ('98) for ninth with 27.
- In the Patriot League, the Naarden, Netherlands, native is third all-time for scoring and is tied for sixth for career points with current Lafayette head coach Jennifer Stone.
- Coenen also sits among the top active players in Division I, ranking fourth for career goals and fifth for career points.
