NEW YORK - Two evenly matched teams won five bouts apiece but it was Columbia (2-2, 2-1 EIWA) with the last-second technical fall that pulled out a 21-20 team victory over American (2-5, 2-2 EIWA). Highlights of the Eagles' wins included a pin for #7 Kizhan Clarke at 149, and major decision victories for #16 Tanner Harvey (184) and Niko Camacho (285).

MATCH NOTES

• The first two bouts of the match were wins for two of AU's top wrestlers, Clarke and #22 Sal Profaci. 
• Taking on #24 Matt Kazimir in the opening bout, Profaci had takedowns in each of the first two periods and ultimately won by decision, 5-1.
• Clarke kept things going and turned a 5-1 lead through the first two periods into an 11-1 lead in the third before pinning Columbia's Andrew Garr. Clarke's win was his 30th of the season, tying him for 13th all-time at AU for single-season victories.
• Anthony Wokasch had a strong showing at 165 but was edged 5-4 by Riley Jacops.
• At 174, Ben Root built a big lead but let Lennox Wolak back into it. Root still had a 15-14 advantage going into the third but lost by fall.
• Harvey carried a big, 8-1 lead into the third period and doubled his points in the final minutes, earning a 19-6 major decision win for the Eagles and putting them up 13-12 in the team scoring.
• After a Columbia win at 197, Gage Curry took down one of Columbia's top wrestlers in Joe Manchio, winning 10-5 and putting AU on top, 20-16.
• It came down to the final pairing at 133, and Angelo Rini of Columbia scored the points he needed for a tech fall over Daniel Kidd only in the final seconds of the seven-minute bout.
