2021-22 (Senior) - Closed out his career with a pin, his 11th, vs. No. 19 Penn’s Cam Connor in an extra countable match on Feb. 20... Went 4-10 for the season and finished his career at 18-24 overall... Earned the program's Brian Sulmonetti Exemplary Teammate Award at the annual team banquet.

2020-21 (RS Sophomore) - Did not compete at the EIWA Championships, the program's only meet due to a COVID-shortened season.

2019-20 (RS Freshman) - Went 14-14 overall and led the Eagles with nine pins, tying for 12th all-time in a single season at AU... Prior to the dual meet season, went 12-8 with eight wins by fall, at one point ranking among the nation’s leaders in pins... Finished fifth in the 174-pound weight class at both the Battle at The Citadel and Wilkes Open, going 4-2 at The Citadel and 5-1 at Wilkes... Closed out the season with a 2-2 performance at the National Collegiate Open including a pin vs. Princeton’s Forest Belli.

2018-19 (Redshirt) - Went 8-10 overall with three wins by fall... Finished fifth at the Messiah Open with a 3-1 record... Went 2-2 at the Short Hitchcock Memorial Open with a win by fall over Tucker Nadeau of West Virginia... Went 2-2 at the Hokie Open in his first collegiate meet.

Before AU - Wrestled at Solanco HS... Finished with 117 victories and 58 pins in his career... Finished 7th at the PIAA State Championships... Two-time section and county champion... Placed 4th at the Fargo Cadet Greco Nationals... Also played soccer in at Solanco.

Personal - Parents are Kimberly and Barrett Root... Has two older siblings, Sam and Janna... Majoring in graphic design at AU... Coached elementary-school wrestlers... Honorable mention honoree in scholastic poetry... Hobbies include making music, drawing and politics... Listens to jazz and enjoys Chinese food before matches... Playing sports as a kid, pretended to be soccer star Lionel Messi... Came to AU because of the environment... Would cast Will Ferrell in a movie of his life... Distant relative to actor Steve Martin.
