Men's Soccer Travels to the Tar Heel State For Two Games This Weekend

WASHINGTON — The American University men's soccer team travels to North Carolina to take on Campbell and Appalachian State over the weekend.

Welcome Back
American assistant coach Dan Louisignau and junior keeper Jake Agnew will make a return to Appalachian State Stadium at the Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex on Sunday. Louisignau and Agnew spent two seasons with the Mountaineers before coming to American. As goalkeeper coach, Louisignau worked primarily with Agnew and saw growth in his development while Agnew secured two Defensive Player of the Week awards and 1.07 goals against average as a Mountaineer.

In the home opener last Monday, Jake Agnew made eight saves against George Washington. Agnew made five stops in the second half and then made one more big stop in the first overtime period. In two games, Agnew has a 0.90 goals against average.

American features 11 players from eight different countries. The Eagles have four players from England (Oscar McConnellMalachy McGovern, Nicholas Dimitrijevic and Oliver Price), one from Italy (Fabio Massaro), one from Germany (Tim Neumann), one from Sweden (Viggo Sjoberg), one from Australia (Luke Browning), one from Cameroon (Jerry Zouantcha), one from Nigeria (Alameen Salako) and one from Bulgaria (Rocco Poelzlbauer).

Campbell Scout
Looking for its first win of the season, Campbell makes its home debut on Friday evening against the Eagles. In the season opener against Memphis, the Camels fell 4-0 before a 1-1 double-overtime tie with Central Arkansas last Sunday. Thibaut Jacquel scored for Campbell in the Central Arkansas tie. In goal, Samuel Lechuga has allowed five goals on nine shots.

App State Scout
Before its match with American on Sunday, Appalachian State will host fellow DMV foe George Mason on Friday. The Mountaineers opened the season with a 2-0 loss to St. John's before a 2-1 win over PL foe Loyola Maryland. Kelan Swales and Nick Rogers scored for App State against the Greyhounds last Sunday. Jacob Madden has posted a 1.50 goals against average through two games this season.

Up Next
American will stay on the road but head to the West Coast for meetings with California (Sept. 13) and Stanford (Sept. 15). The Eagles will return to Reeves Field to start PL play on Sept. 21 against Lehigh.
