SERIES HISTORY vs. HOLY CROSS
  • The Eagles have dominated in their 20-year history against the Crusaders, 21-3.
  • AU enters the game on a 20-game win streak against Holy Cross dating back to the 2003 season.
  • The last time the Crusaders was in 2002 when they won in both meetings, including a 1-0 victory during the Patriot League Tournament.
  • The Eagles walked away with a decisive 6-1 win over Holy Cross last season behind goals from junior Noor Coenen, sophomore Hannah Moser, and then-seniors Rafaela Rubas, Rachel Stefano, and Lucy Whalley.
 SERIES HISTORY vs. VCU
  • The series between AU and VCU began in 1984 with the first of an 8-1 run for the Rams that lasted until 1993.
  • Since then, though, the Eagles have come out on top in all but one meeting and currently leads the series, 14-9.
  • The last VCU victory was in 2000, 2-1.
  • American won in the double-overtime thriller last season, 3-2, behind goals from senior Jette Dieckmann and then-seniors Rafaela Rubas and Annaka Groschinski.
 SCOUTING THE EAGLES
  • American enters the weekend on a 3-0 run after wins over Bucknell, Georgetown, and most recently the 4-1 victory at Lehigh on Saturday.
  • Four Eagles contributed to the win over the Mountain Hawks, including freshman Megan Hoffman who was selected as the PL Rookie of the Week after opening scoring with her second goal of the season.
  • Juniors Noor Coenen and Ella Arata, and sophomore Aidan Rossman also pitched in goals while Coenen, senior Jette Dieckmann, junior Lauren Fredricks, and sophomore Georgia Davies all added an assist each.
  • American leads the Patriot League on the defensive end, allowing only 2.4 goals per game after holding its opponents to no more than one per game since September 6.
  • The Eagles rank 11th in the NCAA for that 2.4 goals against average and are 11th for penalty corners per game (6.9) and 19th for scoring margin (0.97).
  • Coenen also sits atop the league rankings with 1.9 points per game. She also ranks second in the PL with 0.7 goals per game and 0.5 assists per game.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Fiona Minter also leads the league rankings with her 1.5 goals against average. She currently holds a .500 save percentage after starting nine of the 10 games so far this season.
 SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS
  • Holy Cross will look to bounce back after a 3-1 loss to No. 23 Fairfield on Sunday, October 6. The Crusaders are 2-1 in Patriot League play with wins over Lehigh and Colgate, and an 8-0 loss to Lafayette.
  • Minke Kooman, who has contributed at least a point in six of the last seven games, continued that trend against Fairfield as the Crusaders' lone goal scorer. She leads the team with 14 points on the season (6g, 2a) and ranks fourth in the league for both goals per game (0.6) and points per game (1.4).
  • Goalkeeper Marcia LaPlante continues to rank among the top keepers in the country, sitting in third for saves per game (8.4) and fourth for save percentage (.808). She also leads the league in both categories.
  • Defender Emily Devine has also proved to be a force on the backline, ranking seventh in Division I and second the PL with three defensive saves after 10 games.
