FAIRFAX, Va.– Kyra Manson had a second-place finish in the women's 100-yard butterfly to lead American University performances Saturday at a triple-dual swimming and diving meet hosted by George Mason.
The Eagles dropped dual-meet scoring pairings to the host Patriots, Army West Point and Old Dominion.
MEET NOTES
• Manson, a sophomore transfer, went 57.97 in the women's 100 fly, losing by 0.21 seconds to Army's Whitney Chang. Eleanor Felton (59.20) finished fourth to add to AU's numerous top-five placings on the day.
• The AU women had a number of third-place finishes by different student-athletes.
• Alex Brosvik (200 free, 1:57.02), Lily Koenig (100 back, 58.50), Alex Feys (200 fly, 2:09.60), Manson (50 free, 24.75) and Ryan Jolley (400 IM, 4:45.36) each finished third to lead the Eagles in their events.
• Manson, Felton, Ellen Johnson and Brosvik combined to go 3:36.66 in the 400 freestyle relay, placing second in the final event of the day.
• Scott Callander had the best individual finishes of the day for the AU men. He placed fifth in the 100 butterfly (51.58) after posting a seventh in the 200 fly (1:57.50).
• Liam Riebling was seventh in the 100 fly (51.80) for the Eagles.
• Matt Bean (54.34 in 100 back) and Garrett Sooter (4:25.81 in 400 IM) were eighth in their events.

American has its last tuneup for the Patriot League Championships on Saturday, Feb. 2 when it participates in the Bison Invitational. The meet will be at the same Bucknell facility where the PL meet will be held Feb. 20 to 23.
