WASHINGTON - Sixteen Eagles are in Williamsburg, Va., on Friday for the 53rd Annual Colonial Relays, hosted by the College of William & Mary in Zable Stadium.
The three-day meet, which boasts both high school and collegiate fields, is the largest scored regular-season meet in the country. For the first time, FloTrack Pro will broadcast the entire meet with a live stream of all track events and limited coverage of the field events.
Junior Trevor Patton will open the day at 11 a.m. with the men's long jump. Patton, who owns the No. 2 mark in program history with his 6.86m (22-6.25) personal record (PR), made his season debut in the event last weekend with a third-place finish at the Navy Invitational (6.75m / 22-1.75).
Track events for the Eagles won't begin until the evening session, starting with the men's 800-meter run, featuring freshmen John Pagliaro and Caleb Brown, at 5 p.m. Senior Brianna Belo and sophomores Emily Houghton and Lucia Rose will follow in the women's 800m run at 5:30 p.m. Belo is coming off a fourth-place finish in the event at the Raleigh Relays, where she crossed in 2:08.06 to just miss her school record time from last season (2:07.53). That time ranks first in the Patriot League, 20th in the NCAA East Region, and 31st in NCAA Division I.
The evening will continue with freshman Max Lustig and junior Tommy Sommer in the men's 3000m steeplechase, followed by the men's and women's 1500m runs. Sophomore Gerard D'Ambrosio III will close out events for American with the men's 5000m run at 8:10 p.m.
