Women's 4x800-Meter Relay Clocks Program Top-Five Time

WASHINGTON - The American University track & field team closed out its regular season at the historic Penn Relays on Saturday with a record-book performance by the women's 4x800-meter relay team.

The foursome of seniors Jude Mabone and Brianna Belo, and sophomores Kaitlyn McTernan and Arianna Lopez highlighted the weekend's events with a fifth-place finish in the women's 4x800m relay, crossing with the fifth-fastest time in AU history (9:09.66).

The Eagles opened the three-day meet on Thursday with a pair of individual performances in the men's 5000m run. Senior Alaeldin Tirba led the pair with a 46th-place finish in 14:36.51 followed by Ben Doiron in 58th (15:00.32).

The men's distance medley rounded out the weekend's performances with a 15th place finish. The squad of Tirba, junior Trevor Patton, freshman Chris Tibbetts and senior Matthew Rainey timed through with a final time of 10:11.00.
