FAIRFAX, Va. – American University will compete in its biggest swimming and diving event of the fall semester this weekend when it travels west to compete in the three-day Patriot Invitational hosted by George Mason.

Prelims on Thursday, Friday and Saturday begin at 10 a.m., with finals each evening beginning at 6 p.m. The three-day meet runs in a format very similar to league and NCAA championships at the end of each season.

American will be one of nine teams attending the meet, which will include Drexel, Florida Atlantic, Richmond, Seton Hall, Shippensburg, UMBC, UNC Wilmington and the host Patriots.

The Eagles have tapered their training for the Patriot Invitational, which last year produced a number of season-bests by AU swimmers and divers.

Alex Brosvik, Ellie Kight, Lily Koenig and Malak Hattab will lead the AU women into the meet, as each has the best time of the season in two events.

Scott Callander, Luke Bennett, Liam Riebling, Matt Bean and Garrett Sooter top the charts for the Eagles in at least two events on the men's side.
