DiGiandomenico Selected as GEICO Student-Athlete of the Week

WASHINGTON - A three-goal weekend, including the game-winner against Michigan State on Friday, earned field hockey forward Leah DiGiandomenico the team's first GEICO AU Student-Athlete of the Week honor of 2017.

DiGiandomenico currently leads the team with eight points (four goals) after the first four games of the season. She highlighted the team's weekend in East Lansing, Michigan, with the game-winning goal against Michigan State before putting up a team-high two goals in the 6-0 win over Central Michigan.

The Elkridge, Md., native currently ranks second in the Patriot League in several categories, including points (eight) and goals per game (1.00).

The Eagles will return for a pair of local games next weekend with the Terrapin Invitational in College Park, Md. The tournament will start on Friday with a 4 p.m. contest against Louisville and will end on Sunday at 2 p.m. against Towson.

American's first home series will be on Saturday, Sept. 16, and Sunday, Sept. 17, against Bucknell and Drexel.
