WASHINGTON – The American University field hockey team will close its two-game stretch in East Lansing, Mich., on Sunday with a 1:30 p.m. start against Central Michigan.
The Eagles, who outlasted Michigan State, 1-0, on Friday, enters Sunday's game with a 2-1 overall record, while the Chippewas are still searching for their first win of the season with a record of 0-3.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
American opened the weekend with a tight game against host Michigan State, coming back after a scoreless first half to net the game's only goal early in the second, courtesy of senior Leah DiGiandomenico.
DiGiandomenico is currently one of four Eagles with four points for the season with her two goals. Senior Samantha McCormick (one goal, two assists), sophomore Kathryn Roncoroni (two goals) and junior Rafaela Rubas (two goals) join her at the top of the stats sheet.
Junior Maura Jacobs currently leads the Eagles in the cage with a 2.21 goals against average and .500 save percentage.
Overall, AU is shooting .200 with an average of 12.7 shots per game.
SCOUTING THE CHIPPEWAS
CMU, who is shooting .167 percent with 4.0 shots per game, is led by sophomore Jasmine Banks who has three points this season off of one goal and one assist. Freshman Alli Huddleson is the only other Chippewa to have notched a goal this season.
Junior Lily Amadio has anchored the Chippewas in the cage with a 4.27 goals against average and a .643 save percentage.
