CAIRNS, QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA — Sa'eed Nelson led the American University men's basketball team with 25 points in an 89-70 loss to CQ University Cairns Taipans on Tuesday evening at Early Settler Stadium.

American shot 45 percent from the field with Nelson connecting on 10-of-15. 

Marvin Bragg added 10 points in his debut for the Eagles. The new American frontcourt duo on Mark Gasperini and Sam Iorio combined for 17 points. 

Tevin Jackson led the Taipans with 12 points. Nnanna Egwu and Alex Laughton added 10 points for the 

American will continue its Australian Tour against Sydney Kings Invitational on Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. (Australia) / 5:30 a.m. (Eastern).
