WASHINGTON - Sophomore Ben Doiron earned his first career GEICO AU Student-Athlete of the Week recognition on Monday, May 8, after helping guide the American University track & field 4x800m squad to a Patriot League Championships title over the weekend.

Doiron, along with junior Alaeldin Tirba, sophomore Matthew Rainey and junior Liam Purdy, closed with the eighth-fastest 4x800m time in program history, leading the conference field with a final time of 7:34.64.  He returned to the track on the second day of conference competition to lead the Eagles with a tenth-place overall finish in the 5000m run (14:50.65).

Doiron was also a member of the sixth-fastest distance medley team during the Penn Relays the week prior, helping guide the men to a fifth-place overall finish in 9:55.18.
