Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – The American University field hockey team starts its Patriot League schedule this Saturday when it travels to Holy Cross for a noon match.
The Eagles are 4-2 overall this season, while the Crusaders are 3-2 in the early going. Both of AU's losses have come to ranked teams in then-No. 20 Old Dominion and No. 7 Maryland.
Haley Bowcutt and
Rafaela Rubas are each coming off five-point weekends for American, which beat Fairfield, 4-2 and lost 6-2 to the Terrapins.
Bowcutt, a junior forward, is now second on the Eagles in scoring with seven points – tied with junior
Leah DiGiandomenico and two points behind senior forward
Natalie Konerth.
Sophomore
Maura Jacobs has gotten the last four starts in goal for the Eagles, posting a 3-1 record.
Holy Cross has won its last two outings, beating UMass-Lowell and Sacred Heart. Junior forward Maureen Connolly leads the Patriot League so far with seven goals and 16 points.
AU won last year's meeting between these two teams, 4-3, at Jacobs Field.
American returns home next weekend for a pair of matches. The Eagles play host to Lehigh at noon on Saturday before facing 10th-ranked Princeton at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24.
