Johnson Earns GEICO - AU Student-Athlete of the Week

Brendan Johnson made the most of his first 5,000-meter race of the season, winning that event at last week's Armory Collegiate Invitational and earning the selection as the GEICO – AU Student-Athlete of the Week.

Johnson, a junior from Waldorf, Md., has been selected for the third time in his career, with the previous two coming during cross country seasons. It is his first honor during the 2015-16 academic year.

Johnson bested a 15-runner field in the 5K at the Fort Washington Armory in New York, running 14:20.85. He beat Logan Rodgers of Trevecca Nazarene by less than a second, but his time was 21 seconds better than the IC4A standard and was a 17-second personal best for Johnson.

He moved from 10th to third on AU's all-time list in the 5K and holds the third-fastest time of the season thus far in the Patriot League.
