ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Fiona Caulfield finished 12th in the women's 1-meter diving competition and the women's 400-yard medley relay squad placed sixth to highlight American University's performances Thursday at the 2016 Patriot League Swimming & Diving Championships, hosted by Navy.
Caulfield, a sophomore, scored 220.55 on the 1-meter board Thursday, posting her second-best score of the year.
The women's 400 medley relay team of
Paris Wood, Ali Follman, Caylee Watson and
Julianna Cavano went 3:49.52, three seconds better than the Eagles' best mark of the season. Wood went 56.16 in the 100-yard backstroke in the opening leg, a mark that was surpassed only by her school-record swim of 55.96 in November.
American ended the second of four days of competition in ninth place on the women's side with 55 points. The Eagles were in 10th place on the men's side, suffering a disqualification in the 400 medley relay due to an early start in one of the legs of the relay.
Kilian Korth posted a lead leg of 50.70 in the 100 back, nearly a half-second better than his fastest mark of the season in that event.
The host Midshipmen will head into the final two days of competition with a 100-point lead over the field on both the women's and men's side in the team standings.
