#20 AU Hosts #14 BU in Patriot League Showdown

WASHINGTON – Having already clinched a share of the regular-season title in the Patriot League, there still seems as if there's unfinished business for the American University field hockey team.

The Eagles, ranked 20th in the nation, have a chance to wrap up the outright title and earn home-field advantage for next weekend's PL Tournament on Saturday when they play host to No. 14 Boston University at Jacobs Field beginning at noon.

AU will also pay tribute to its four seniors in a pregame ceremony.

American comes into the match at 11-5 overall and a perfect 5-0 in the Patriot League. Even though a loss would drop AU into a first-place tie with BU in the standings, the Terriers would gain the home-field edge due to the head-to-head victory.

Four of AU's five losses this season have come to nationally ranked teams. The Eagles lost at home to 8th-ranked Delaware last Sunday in a match that snapped a four-game winning streak by American.

Senior forward Natalie Konerth is the reigning Corvias Patriot League Player of the Week after posting a hat trick in last Saturday's 6-1 win over Colgate. It was Konerth's second hat trick of the season and gave her eight goals in her five PL matches this season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Maura Jacobs brings a 9-4 individual record and a 2.03 goals-against average into the match.

The Terriers are also 11-5 overall, but have a 4-1 league mark. BU's loss in the league was a 2-1 shootout loss at Lafayette on Sept. 23.

Boston U. has one of the best defenses in the nation, ranking 7th in NCAA Divison I with a 1.25 goals-against average. The Terriers have allowed less than two goals in a game 11 times in 16 matches this year.

Senior forward Amanda Cassera is BU's leading scorer with 20 points and nine goals. Cammy Jensen is the Terriers goalkeeper and averages 1.24 goals-against.
