ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Tori Haviland posted her best time of the season to win the women's 200-yard butterfly Saturday to lead American University performances at the Navy Invitational swimming and diving meet.
Haviland went 2:10.24 in the event to best Jenna Brown of Loyola by two seconds. It was the sophomore's first win of the season in the 200 fly. She also scored a third-place finish in the 500 freestyle with a mark of 5:08.42.
AU senior
Paris Wood also picked up a pair of top-10 finishes, placing second in the 200 backstroke (2:02.55) and a seventh in the 100 free (53.86).
Sophomore diver
Fiona Caulfield was in the top five on both boards, placing fourth at 3-meters (240.55) and fifth in the 1-meter competition (238.25).
For the AU men,
Scott Callander led a strong performance in the 200 fly for the Eagles, who put three freshmen in the top 10. Callander was third (1:56.61),
Julian Wainer placed sixth (2:00.73) and
Sam Fromkin was ninth (2:04.78).
Reichert was sixth in the 100 back (54.75) and eighth in the 200 back (2:00.64), while Korth was seventh in the 100 free (48.58) and 10th just behind Callander in the 50 free (22.35).
American is scheduled to be away from competition for the next few weeks while training for the Patriot League Championships, to also be held at Navy on Feb. 17-20.
