CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Three American University field hockey student-athletes were recognized by the Patriot League for their performance in a pair of victories last weekend, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
Junior
Natalie Konerth was tabbed the PL Corvias Offensive Player of the Week, senior
Kate McBeath was selected as the Corvias Goalkeeper of the Week and freshman
Rafaela Rubas was honored as the Corvias Rookie of the Week. Konerth was also recognized as the AU GEICO Student-Athlete of the Week for her performance.
Konerth and Rubas each earned weekly honors for the first time in their respective careers, while McBeath received the fourth award of her career and second this season.
A native of Huntingtown, Md., Konerth had multiple points in a pair of victories for the Eagles last week, totaling three goals and two assists in home wins over Brown and Appalachian State. She had two goals and an assist in a 4-1 win over the Bears on Friday, while posting a goal and an assist in a 5-1 win over the Mountaineers.
Konerth currently leads the Patriot League in both assists (4) and total points (10).
McBeath, a native of Barhamsville, Va., received her second straight weekly award after her strong performance in the Eagles' two wins last weekend. She recorded a save in AU's win over Brown, while tallying four saves without allowing a goal by Appalachian State in 55 minutes of action.
McBeath leads the Patriot League with a 1.28 goals against average and .800 save percentage for the season.
A native of Vienna, Austria, Rubas also had an exceptional weekend for the Eagles during their home tournament, scoring multiple points in each victory. She tallied a pair of goals in AU's win over Brown, while scoring a goal and an assist against Appalachian State. Her three goals came on just four shots and she scored the game-winner versus Brown.
Rubas is currently tied for the Patriot League lead in goals (4) and is second in the league in points (9).
The Eagles are back at home this weekend, hosting Yale on Saturday at noon.
