The American University field hockey team returns to action Sunday, Aug. 30, with a 1 p.m. road contest at 16th-ranked Old Dominion.
The Eagles (0-1) will look for their first victory of the season after dropping a 2-1 overtime decision to Richmond on Friday evening.
Sophomore Leah DiGiandomenico scored the lone goal of the contest for American, which drew just three penalty corners in the game. Preseason All-Patriot League goalkeeper Kate McBeath had a solid performance, recording seven saves against the Spiders.
Old Dominion enters the contest with a 1-0 record after picking up a 2-1 victory over No. 7 Penn State on Friday.
The Lady Monarchs overcame a 1-0 deficit, getting scores from senior Emily Harting and sophomore Victoria Rezette. Sophomore goalkeeper Kelly Weaver picked up her first collegiate win in the effort, finishing with a career-high 10 saves.
