ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Paris Wood picked up a third-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke to help the American University women's swimming and diving team to a win over Lafayette in a quadrangular meet Saturday at Navy.
The Eagles beat the Leopards, 186-110, in the round-robin dual-meet scoring. The Eagles lost to Bucknell and host Navy in the scoring.
American was outscored in all three dual meets on the men's side, with its best point total coming in a 195-88 loss to Lafayette.
Wood swam 2:03.44 in the 200 back and placed fourth with a time of 57.36 in the 100 back.
Caylee Watson picked up a fourth in the 100 butterfly (59.37), while
Julianna Cavano was fifth in the 100 IM (1:02.24).
American's top individual finish on the men's side came from freshman Scott Callander, who was fourth in the 100 fly at 52.36.
Kilian Korth was sixth in the 200 free (1:43.69) and 200 back (1:55.78), while
Ryan Richards earned a sixth in the 500 free (4:58.20).
The Eagles compete next at the George Mason Invitational in two weeks.
