WASHINGTON – Beginning a five-game homestand to close the regular season, the American University field hockey team hosts a pair of contests this weekend, Oct. 17-18.
The Eagles will face Patriot League foe Lafayette on Saturday at noon before playing Kent State in a non-conference matchup Sunday at 1 p.m.
American enters this weekend's action with an 8-4 overall record and 3-1 ledger in PL play. The Eagles are coming off a 3-1 victory over Colgate last weekend. Freshman Rafaela Rubas led AU with a pair of goals, while junior Natalie Marsh scored a career-high three assists.
Rubas leads the Patriot League with nine goals this season and is tied for first in the league with 20 points. Meanwhile, junior Natalie Konerth has also scored 20 points this season, including eight assists, a total which ranks second in the league.
Lafayette owns a 7-6 overall record and a 2-1 mark in the Patriot League. The Leopards earned a 3-1 win over Bucknell in their last outing.
Amanda Magadan has scored a team-high 18 points (7g, 4a) this season, while Katie Birle (6g) and Ami Turner (4g, 4a) have added 12 points each.
Kent State enters the weekend with a 3-8 overall record and faces Miami (Ohio) on Friday. The Golden Flashes dropped a 1-0 decision to Mid-American Conference foe Missouri State last weekend.
Madison Thompson is the top scorer for Kent State with 11 points (5g, 1a), while Ines Delpech has added eight points (3g, 2a).
