On the final day of the 2014 Patriot League Championships in Annapolis, Md., the American University swimming & diving teams finished strong as the men surged up the standings to place sixth overall, while AU women placed eighth.
American's strong final day was started by sophomore Dylan Rasnick who finished 10th in the 1650 freestyle, finishing in 15:58.21 to earn 10 team points for the Eagles.
Sophomore Paris Wood advanced to the B-Final of the 200 back, placing fifth in the heat with a time of 2:03.43.
It was the 200 back on the men's 1side, which saw AU extremely well represented as four swimmers qualified for the B-Final. Senior Matt Wurm won the final with a time of 1:49.72; nearly a second faster than his preliminary time. Senior Bobby Ballance, rookie Kilian Korth and junior Harrison Volaski finished 6,7,8 in the race.
The Eagle men also advanced two swimmers to the second final heat of the 200 breast. Senior Daniel Francis took second in the B-Final with a time of 2:01.23. Junior Charlie Taffet placed seventh in the heat at 2:04.84.
Sophomore Michael Kell also qualified for finals night, advancing to the B-Final of the 200 butterfly, finishing 16th overall with a time of 1:55.17.
