WASHINGTON – With only two games left in the regular season for American University men's soccer, the Eagles play their final non-league match on Wednesday at 2 p.m. against Ivy League-leading Princeton.
It will be a matchup of top-44 RPI programs with potential NCAA implications on the line. American is currently No. 32 in the nation.
The Eagles are coming off a hard-fought, double-overtime draw at conference leader Boston University on Saturday. AU also earned a victory over Loyola Maryland last week.
For his efforts, senior center back Jake Weinreb earned Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week honors, as well as the GEICO AU Student-Athlete of the Week award. Weinreb led the back line to two shutouts last week and has now helped American to seven clean sheets on the year.
The back four for AU is extremely experienced as Weinreb is flanked by fellow seniors Jordan Manley, Christian Robbs and Conor Osborne.
American is 15th in the nation with a 0.70 goals against average.
Princeton is 8-3-3 this season with a 3-1-1 mark in the Ivy League. The Tigers are riding a six-game unbeaten streak, going 5-0-1 in that span.
Cameron Porter leads the offense with an impressive 12 goals and 27 points. Thomas Sanner is second on the team with seven scores and 16 points.
In goal, Ben Hummel has played all but eight minutes this season, registered a 1.42 goals against average and .716 save percentage with four shutouts.
