American University men's outdoor track student-athlete Mark Allen has been named the M-F Athletic Patriot League Male Track Athlete of the Week, conference officials announced Monday. The senior was also recognized as the AU Student-Athlete of the Week Presented by GEICO by Department of Athletics officials.

Allen finished second in the 5,000 meter run at the 2013 Penn Relays on Thursday night in Philadelphia, Pa. His time of 14:05.64 eclipsed the IC4A standard by more than 30 seconds and is also the second-fastest time in program history. The Miami, Fla. native's time is also the No. 38 mark in the NCAA East Region this year.

Allen and the Eagles head to Bethlehem, Pa. this weekend for the 2013 Patriot League Outdoor Championships on Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4.
