The American University lacrosse team picked up one of its best wins in program history, registering a 10-9 overtime victory over No. 12 Johns Hopkins on Wednesday at Jacobs Field. Jordan Harrington notched the game-winner with eight seconds remaining in extra time to extend American's win streak to four.

The Eagles answered Johns Hopkins (6-4, 0-1 ALC) goal for goal at the start of the game, with Alex Lugovina and Samantha Marshall finding the back of the net, before the Blue Jays went on a 5-0 run, heading into the intermission with the 7-2 lead.

American (4-6, 2-0 PL) came out of the break with four straight tallies as Olivia Mangan scored at the 12:41 mark off a free position goal to make it a one-goal game, 7-6. Dene' DiMartino gave Johns Hopkins a two-goal cushion once again with 4:06 to play. Lugovina knotted it up at the 3:49 mark and Kimberly Collins scored with 57 seconds left to send it to overtime.

Johns Hopkins struck first in extra time. Jen Cook completed a hat trick 52 seconds in on the assist from Taylor D'Amore. Collins tied it up to set up the final drive, putting it in the left corner of the net on the dish from Lugovina before Harrington secured the win on an unassisted tally.

The Eagles win is its first over a ranked opponent in at least 10 years. American's four-game win streak is its first since 2008.

Johns Hopkins held a 29-17 advantage in shots and 12-11 edge in draw controls. Lugovina and Marshall each posted four points on three goals and one assist. Emily Maher had six draw controls and Laura Dawson collected a team-best four ground balls. Teal Harrison recorded 10 saves between the pipes.

Cook led the Blue Jays with a hat trick and one assist and D'Amore added three points on one goal and two assists. D'Amore also registered a team-high five draw controls with Sammi Arbitman collecting four ground balls.

American will look to extend its win streak and create a tie for first place in the Patriot League when it hosts Bucknell on Saturday, March 30 at 2 p.m. for the 2013 Lax Blowout.
