The American University swimming & diving teams began the 2013-14 season with a home event on Friday, hosting the annual Potomac Relays against Georgetown, George Mason, George Washington, Towson, Mount St. Mary's and Mary Washington.
A young group of Eagles gave AU its first top-three finish of the day as the women's 300 backstroke relay team of Paris Wood, Caylee Watson and Julianna Cavano finished in 3:01.76.
The American men followed with a fourth-place finish in the 300 back as the team of Harrison Volaski, Kilian Korth and Dylan Rasnick raced to a 2:41.27 time.
The Eagle women finished the day with 19 points, just one behind fifth-place Mount in the team standings. The men totaled 20 points to claim fifth place at the relays.
AU returns to the poll next weekend with a tri-meet at the Reeves Aquatic Center against Loyola, George Washington and Catholic.
