The American University men's and women's swimming & diving teams are back in action for the first time in 2013, when the Eagles take on Georgetown and James Madison on Saturday, January 12, at 1 p.m. The swimming events will be held at McCarthy Pool at Georgetown, while the divers will compete at Reeves Pool in Bender Arena.
The last collegiate team competition for the Eagles came back on November 17, 2012, at the George Mason Patriot Invitational. Matt Wurm led the way for the men as he finished second overall in the 500 freestyle, with a time of 4:38.79. Abby Weingarten had one of the women's best finishes in the 100 breaststroke, finishing second in the consolation final with a time of 1:06.72.
Wurm was also joined by Bobby Ballance as both qualified for the AT&T Winter Championships where head coach Mark Davin saw his top swimmers compete against the nation's best including Olympic Gold Medalist Ryan Lochte.
After Georgetown and James Madison, the Eagles go on to George Mason and Army on next Saturday, January 19.
