Box Score 2 The American University volleyball team dropped its final two matches of the Yale Classic on Saturday. The Eagles fell to Texas A&M to open the day before losing 3-0 to Yale on Saturday night.
Texas A&M's (4-1) victory came by set scores of 25-22, 25-12 and 25-15. American (2-3) was paced by Juliana Crum, who notched 10 kills. Sara Rishell and Bree Scarbrough recorded six kills apiece with Allison Cappellino posting a team-high 11 digs. Alisia Kastmo led the Aggies with 11 kills. Texas A&M outhit American .440 to .129 in the match.
The Eagles returned against Yale (2-1) but couldn't overpower the Bulldogs, falling by set scores of 25-18, 25-18 and 25-22. Rishell led the team with nine kills with Kylann Scheidt posting 25 assists. Scarbrough had a team-high six blocks in the second match. Yale was led by Mollie Rogers with a team-best 12 kills, as the Bulldogs outhit American .291 to .184.
Rishell was named to the Yale Classic All-Tournament Team after posting 21 kills over the weekend.
American will return to action next weekend when it travels to North Carolina for the Spartan-Aggie Invitational, co-hosted by UNC Greensboro and North Carolina A&T.
