American Names Division II National Champion Jenny Glenn as Head Volleyball Coach

WASHINGTON - Jenny Glenn has been named the next head coach of American University volleyball, announced today by Director of Athletics and Recreation JM Caparro. Glenn comes to AU after a remarkable 10-season run at Metropolitan State University of Denver, most recently leading the Roadrunners to the NCAA Division II National Championship in 2025.

We are so excited to welcome Jenny, a proven leader, as the new head coach of our women’s volleyball program. Her commitment to competitive excellence and personal growth will elevate our program and inspire our student-athletes to achieve extraordinary results, on and off the court. I want to thank Katie Benoit for leading a highly competitive search that attracted an exceptional pool of candidates. From early in the process, it was clear that Jenny’s vision, energy, and championship mindset will challenge us all to raise our standards, push beyond expectations, and pursue sustained excellence.
JM Caparro, Director of Athletics and Recreation

Glenn led MSU Denver to a program-record 32 wins on the way to the national title, including a dominant run of 30 consecutive set victories in the middle of the season, and a 23-match winning streak to end the campaign. The Roadrunners achieved every major victory they could, capturing the RMAC regular-season title, the RMAC Tournament championship, and the NCAA South Central Regional crown before becoming the first RMAC team to win a national championship.

Individually, Glenn was recognized as the AVCA South Central Region Coach of the Year for the third time (2016, 2021, 2025). She guided three players to All-American selections and six to All-RMAC spots, including the RMAC Defensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year.

I would like to thank JM Caparro and Katie Benoit for the opportunity to lead the American Volleyball program. It is a program with great tradition and proven success, and I will work hard to uphold this reputation. It is an exciting time to be a part of the American University athletic department, and I am looking forward to working with the exceptional staff and student athletes to continue to win championships.

Over her 10 seasons in Denver, Glenn cemented herself as one of the top coaches in Division II volleyball. She posted a staggering 252-53 overall record and dominant 152-10 mark in conference play, and led the Roadrunners to four RMAC regular season titles, two RMAC Tournament titles, and nine NCAA appearances. She was named RMAC Coach of the Year four times and Colorado Sportswomen College Coach of the Year twice. Glenn also proved to be an elite developer of talent, overseeing the growth of 16 AVCA All-Region players and 13 AVCA All-Americans. Most notably, Glenn guided the spectacular career of outside hitter Ryle Hladky, who was a two-time All-American First Team selection in 2021 and 2022, and Riley Anderson, who was a three-time All-American from 2022 to 2024.

The veteran head coach brings 20 years of collegiate experience to AU, beginning with her time at Northern Colorado as an assistant coach and associate head coach from 2007 to 2015. She helped lead the Bears to the NCAA tournament four times, and was named interim head coach on two separate occasions due to paternity leave. Following the 2014 season, she earned an assistant coach role on the USA Volleyball Collegiate National Team following the 2014 season.

Before entering the collegiate game, Glenn was the head coach for the 18U National Team at Sportsbridge Volleyball Club in Centennial, Colo., and she led the Crush Volleyball Club to a Junior National Qualification in 2006.

Glenn is a graduate of Truman State (Mo.), where she played collegiately and was a three-time All-MIAA and all-region selection.
