The American University field hockey team dropped a 2-0 contest
to #15 Ohio State after holding the Buckeyes scoreless in the first
half.
"I think we're really disappointed that we didn't play better
today but I think a lot of credit has to go to Ohio State, I think
they did some really great things on their forward line," said Head
Coach Steve Jennings. "We had some better
control in this game than we have in the first two games because of
the midfield play, so that's something that we'll have to build
on."
Ohio State (2-1) controlled the pace of play in the first half,
registering six shots. American had an opportunity in the 12th
minute when the Eagles were awarded a penalty corner, but
Gina
Hofmann's shot was blocked before reaching the

half into the second half. Danica Deckard added her third goal of
the season on a breakaway down the left side of the field, beating
the American defenders and sending a shot past Ashley
Dalisera for the 1-0 lead.
Ohio State continued to pressure the American (0-3) defense
after the goal, with Dalisera continuing to come up with big saves.
In the 46th minute, the Buckeyes were awarded a penalty stroke but
Dalisera blocked the shot from Deckard to preserve the one-goal
advantage.

breakaway for the unassisted goal and the 2-0 lead. The Eagles had
