The American University indoor track and field teams concluded competition at the 2012 Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships. Josh Olsen led the Eagles on the final day of competition with his sixth place finish in the 3,000 meter run.
Olsen finished with a time of 8:29.45 and was followed by Mark Allen who placed ninth with a time of 8:32.26. Mark Leininger and Tom Woermer each recorded personal bests in the race with their 11th (8:32.76) and 14th (8:34.70) place finishes, respectively.
Matiss Batarags also recorded a top-10 finish for the men's team with his eighth place finish in the mile run with a time of 4:39.32.
Julia Sullivan led the women's team with her 10th place finish in the mile run. Sullivan's personal best time of 5:05.87 was also good for eighth all-time at American. Rachael Wolff also competed in the mile and finished 16th in a time of 5:37.72. Carly Birkhold placed 17th in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 10:26.63.
The men's team finished seventh in the final standings as Bucknell walked away with the team title. Bucknell also won the women's team title as American finished eighth in the final team standings.
American will open the 2012 outdoor track season at the Shamrock Invitational at Coastal Carolina on March 16-17.
