Wurm & Ballance Swim Against the Nation's Best at Winter Championships

American University swimming was well represented at the 2012 AT&T Winter Championships in Austin, Texas as head coach Mark Davin saw junior Bobby Ballance and Matt Wurm swam against the nation's best.

Competing in the same event as Olympic gold medalist Ryan Lochte, Ballance placed 70th overall in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:56.09 in the preliminaries.

Ballance also competed in the 100 backstroke, finishing 53rd among 66 competitors with a time of 51.17.

Wurm took part in the 200 back, adding American's highest placing of the tournament, finishing 35th overall in the preliminaries touching the wall .01 seconds behind the 34th place finisher at 1:48.87.

The meet wraps up the 2012 portion of the schedule for the Eagles. American returns to the pool on January 12, with a dual meet against Georgetown and James Madison.
