#17 Field Hockey Controls Play But Falls to Louisville, 1-0; Watch Highlights and View Photos

The American University field hockey team held a 14-7 advantage in shots, but Louisville registered the game's only goal in Sunday afternoon's 1-0 victory over the Eagles at Jacobs Field.

Elizabeth Vance tallied the score for Louisville (6-2) in the 33rd minute, which would prove to be the difference. American (2-4) had its opportunities for the equalizer in a second half in which they outshot the Cardinals by a 9-3 margin. But Louisville goalkeeper Erin Conrad made six saves to earn the Cardinals' their fourth straight shutout.

Jaclyn Anspach led AU with four shots, three of which were on goal. Jenn Bradley, Alex McMackin, and Shelly Montgomery recorded two shots apiece. In goal, Stephanie Burry made three saves for the Eagles.

AU will be back in action on Friday, September 23 at Richmond for a 4 p.m. start. The Eagles will then return home to face Boston College on Sunday, September 25 at 1 p.m. in a contest that can be watched live on Eagles Vision TV.
