Box Score 2 The American University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday to conclude play in the Hokie Classic. The Eagles fell to Tennessee 3-0 to open the day before losing 3-0 to Seton Hall in the nightcap.
Tennessee's (6-2) victory came by set scores of 25-14, 25-13 and 25-16. American (4-6) was paced by Morgan Hendrix who notched six kills. Sara Rishell and Megan Rosburg each added four kills while Monika Smidova recorded a double-double with 12 assists and 11 digs. DeeDee Harrison tallied 10 kills to pace the Lady Vols who outhit American .412 to .065.
The Eagles suffered a similar fate against Seton Hall, falling by scores of 25-20, 25-21 and 25-15. Hendrix once again led the team with 11 kills and a .350 hitting percentage. Juliana Crum added eight kills while it was Alexandra Hammer who notched a double-double in this match with 15 assists and 10 digs. Stacey Manthorpe finished the day with 11 kills and a .625 hitting percentage.
Hendrix was named to the Hokie Classic All-Tournament Team after tallying 24 kills over the weekend.
American will return to action Wednesday, September 14 at George Mason at 7:00 p.m.
