Game Notes

The American University men's basketball team will host Lafayette in the Patriot League Tournament Semifinals this Sunday, March 6 at 5:00 p.m. live on CBS College Sports. A victory will advance the Eagles to their third conference championship game in four years and sixth overall.

American moved on to the semis with a 69-53 victory over Colgate Wednesday, the team's 10th straight win in the quarterfinal round. Vlad Moldoveanu led all scorers with 31 points on the night, connecting on 11-of-19 attempts from the floor and 4-of-6 from three. Stephen Lumpkins turned in a 19 point, 15 rebound double-double versus with Nick Hendra dishing out a career-high nine assists with zero turnovers.

Moldoveanu leads the Eagles with an average of 20.3 ppg and has scored at least 30 points in each of the team's last two outings. He will enter Sunday's game having scored 987 points in just 51 career games, and on Sunday could become just the 28th Eagle in program history to eclipse the 1,000 point plateau. Lumpkins, meanwhile, has notched 13.3 ppg and 8.1 rpg while Hendra has added 7.5 ppg and 4.3 apg.

The Eagles and Leopards will be meeting for the fifth time in the Patriot League Tournament when they collide Sunday, with American having won all four previous meetings. The Eagles have won 14 straight overall against Lafayette, including a pair of victories already this season.
