The American University men's and women's swimming
and diving teams both recorded victories at Howard on Saturday
afternoon as the Eagles posted wins in 20 of the 26 events. The men
earned a 137-65 triumph while AU recorded a 117-75 victory in the
women's competition.
Leah Breen led the Eagles on the
afternoon, posting three individual wins. She earned the title in
the 50 free (25.31), 100 free (53.45), and 200 free (2:00.33). Matt Wurm was also a multiple-event
swimming winner for American, recording the best times in the 100
free (47.64) and 200 free (1:46.22).
On the men's side, four other Eagles in addition to Wurm
posted swimming wins, which included Harrison Volaski in the 200 IM
(2:02.90), Robert Feasley in the 100 fly
(53.04), Bobby Ballance in the 100 back
(53.36), and Ming Ong in the 500 free (4:51.39).
In the women's events, in addition to Breen's three
titles, AU took five other swimming events. The wins includes Kerri Knippenberg in the 1000 free
(11:31.73), Elinor Shetter in the 200 IM
(2:17.84), Shekinah Hoffman in the 100 fly
(1:00.57), Miriam Crispo in the 500 free
(5:27.60), and Grace Ibrahim in the 100 breast
(1:10.30).
In the diving competition, Melissa Parker won both the one-meter
(228.90) and three-meter (283.05) competitions on the women's
side. Khristian Vega, meanwhile, earned the
title in both the men's one-meter (164.70) and three-meter
(133.50).
