Box Score Melissa Casale registered two goals and Jenn Bradley added a goal and an assist as the American University field hockey team earned a 5-0 victory over Lehigh Saturday afternoon at Jacobs Field.
American (4-5, 1-0 PL) got in the scoreboard in the 20th minute when Bradley struck off a Natalie Ellenberger feed. Less than a minute later, Casale tallied her first score of the afternoon, and two minutes after that, a Rebecca Treharne strike gave AU a 3-0 advantage.
The Eagles took the three-goal lead into halftime and added to it with two second-half scores, the first from Casale in the 46th minute and the final goal off the stick of Shelly Montgomery in the 70th minute.
American dominated the stat sheet, outshooting Lehigh (2-8, 0-1 PL) by a 25-4 margin. AU recorded 17 shots on goal to only two for the Mountain Hawks. Bradley led AU with a game-high five shots while Casale and Montgomery each had four.
The Eagles will look for their third straight win when they welcome Temple to Jacobs Field for a non-conference matchup tomorrow, October 2. Game time is set for 1 p.m. and all the action will be carried live on Eagles Vision TV.
