The American University men's and women's swimming and diving
teams competed in the Eagle Invitational on Thursday at Reeves
Aquatic Center. Six AU swimmers set lifetime best times in five
events, and three swimmers recorded their best times of the
2009-2010 season.
Senior Matt
Pelletier, the 2010 Patriot League Conference Champion
in the 100 back, led the men's team in a record-setting day.
Pelletier recorded a time of 1:05.39 in the 100 breast, his best
time on the season, and broke his own personal all-time records in
the 50 fly and 50 breast with times of 23.75 and 28.25,
respectively.
Freshman Ming
Ong and sophomores Rob
Grell and Chris
Meadows also put in record-breaking performances for
the Eagles. Ong recorded his personal best-time in the 100 back
(56.28) and 100 fly (24.35). Grell broke his personal record in the
100 breast with a time of 1:06.88, and Meadows set his own best
time in the 100 back with a 58.47-second performance. Meadows also
posted his best time on the season in the 50 free, clocking a time
of 24.36.
On the women's squad, freshman Alexandra
Ramdin finished in 28.46 seconds in the 50 fly, while
recording a time of 31.53 seconds in the 50 back to secure two
personal best times. Senior Adela
Smith also recorded her lifetime best time in the 50
butterfly, and freshman Kimberly
Lindegren's time of 32.94 in the 50 back was the best
of her career as well.
