Swimming and Diving Competes at Navy Invitiational in Final Tuneup Before Patriot League Championships

The American University swimming and diving team competed on Saturday afternoon in the Navy Invititional in Annapolis, Md.

In the women's competition, the 200 medley relay team of Alexandra Wessel, Jess Ballance, Anna Gooding and Leah Breen took home the title with a time of 1:54.92. Individually, Dory Isaacs paced the Eagles with a second place result in the 200 IM (2:10.01).

In the 100 back, American dominated the event with four of the top seven place finishers. Ballance came in third (1:00.21) with Wessel right behind her in fourth (1:00.99). Isaacs finished in sixth (1:02.64) while Eleanor Clay came in seventh (1:03.58).

On the men's side, Matt Pelletier and Ming Ong each recorded fourth place finishes on the day. Pelletier's result came in the highly-competitive 50 free (21.73), while Ong was fourth in the 200 breast (2:14.09).

There were no team scores recorded at the competition.

American will next compete in the Patriot League Championships, which will take place from February 18-20 right back at Navy in Annapolis, Md.
