The American University's men's and women's swimming and diving
teams competed at the FIU Invitational in Miami, Fla. on
Saturday. The men's team earned three top five finishes in
the relay-only meet, while the women added one fourth-place time.
The men's team of Ming
Ong, Matt
Pelletier, Michael
Greenberg, and Chris
Meadows finished fourth overall in the 200
breaststroke relay in a time of 1:59.07. Pelletier, Ong, and
Greenberg would then combine with Rick
Driscoll to grab a fifth-place finish in the 200
butterfly relay, with a time of 1:39.88. The men's team's
other top five finish came from the team of Pelletier, Andrew
Jackwin, Sean
McNamara, and Rob
Grell, who placed fifth in the 200 backstroke relay
with a time of 1:48.92.
The women's team earned a fourth-place finish in the 200
breaststroke relay, as well. The team of Dory
Issacs, Anna
Gooding, Shelby
Legel, and Eleanor
Clay finished in a time of 2:13.91.
Both the men's team finished in fourth place in the event, while
the women's squad came in seventh. The teams will return to action
on January 15th, as they host Georgetown in the second-annual
Bender Splashdown event at the Reeves Aquatic Center. The meet will
be broadcast live on Eagles Vision TV, part of
AUeagles.com.
