Notes
The American University men's basketball team continues its
season-long six-game roadtrip at Brown on Saturday, January 2.
Tipoff from the Pizzitola Sports Center in Providence, R.I., is
scheduled for 1:00 p.m. American is just 1-4 in its all-time series
with Brown. The Eagles, however, picked up their first win against
the Bears last season with a 68-53 victory in Bender Arena.
American lost at Florida in its last time out, 76-60, despite
connecting on a season-high 10 three-pointers. The Eagles trailed
by as many as 23 in the second half before a late barrage of
three's helped to pull the score to within nine. Florida would go
on to score the final seven points though to take the victory.
Sophomore Nick
Hendra recorded his second career double-double
against the Gators, scoring 15 points and pulling down a career and
game-high 13 rebounds. Hendra added two assists while playing 37
minutes. Junior Vlad
Moldoveanu scored 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting,
including a 4-of-6 performance from three, and dished out four
assists. The Eagles finished the game shooting 10-of-24 from behind
the arc and had four student-athletes make at least two
three-pointers.
Moldoveanu leads the team in scoring at 17.8 ppg since becoming
eligible for competition at DePaul on December 16. The junior is
shooting 46.9 percent from the floor, 48.3 percent from three and
has added 4.0 rpg and 3.0 apg. Sophomore Stephen
Lumpkins leads the Patriot League in both rebounding
and blocked shots, registering 8.5 rpg and 1.9 bpg while adding
11.0 ppg. Hendra ranks third on the team in scoring at 9.7 ppg and
has chipped in 5.7 rpg and 2.2 apg.
