The American University swimming and diving team hosted
Georgetown on Friday afternoon at the Reeves Aquatic Center. The
men's squad pulled out an impressive victory over the Hoyas by a
final score of 120.5-118.5, while the women's team fell in the dual
meet, 159-83.

In the men's competition, the Eagles won seven of the 12 events
to pull out the win with senior Matt
Pelletier and sophomore Sean
McNamara each winning two events to pace AU. Pelletier
captured the 50 free (21.88) and 200 back (2:11.47), while McNamara
was victorious in the 100 free (48.54) and 200 free (1:46.15).
The freshmen duo of Ming
Ong and Brian
McCallister also won key events for American. Ong was
the winner in the 400 IM (4:13.37), while McCalister captured the 1
meter diving event (194.63). Additionally, the team of Pelletier,
Ong, Robert
Feasley and McNamara was victorious in the 200 medley
relay with a time of 1:37.16.
On the women's side, juniors Dory
Isaacs and Eleanor
Clay, along with sophomore Alexandra
Wessel, each won an event. Isaacs was victorious in
the 50 free (24.67), Clay in the 200 breast (2:25.59) and Wessel in
the 200 back (2:09.22). Additionally, the relay team of Leah
Breen, Isaacs, Elinor
Shetter and Wessel captured the 200 free relay title
(1:38.77).
The Eagles will be back in the pool next Saturday, January 23,
at George Mason in Fairfax, Va. In addition to competing against
GMU, AU will also compete against Army and Old Dominion in the
event.
