The American University men's track and field team earned three victories on Saturday competing against Navy, Penn and Colgate in Annapolis, Md. Carlos Jamieson and Colin Eustis won the 1500 meter run and 5000 meter run, respectively, to highlight a solid performance in the distance events for American. Frank Borden won the high jump competition and posted a new school record in the event.
Jamieson edged out teammate Conor Sullivan to win the 1500 meter run and lead a 1-2-3 finish for the Eagles. Jamieson completed the race in a time of 3:52.21 while Sullivan clocked in at 3:52.61. Jeff Brannigan took third in the event in 3:55.08 and Craig Brown finished fifth in 3:56.28.
American's success in the distance events continuted in the 5000 meter run as Eustis earned American's second victory of the day, posting a time of 14:35.06. Josh Olsen took sixth place in the 5000 with a time of 15:07.52.
The Eagles also earned three top-eight finishes in the 800 meter run led by Dan King's fourth-place finish in 1:55.05. King was followed by Morgan Block who finished in fifth with a time of 1:55.41 and Chris Cole who took eighth in 1:56.01.
Frank Borden, competing in his first meet of the season, won the high jump and broke his own school record in the process. Borden cleared a final height of 6'6.25" (1.99 meters) to top his previous best of 6'5".
American finished the meet in fourth place overall in the team scoring with 55 total points.
